More than 100,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Welwyn Hatfield since the national rollout began in December 2020.
Data published by the government today (Wednesday 2nd June) shows that 62,674 first doses, and 40,087 second doses have been administered in Welwyn Hatfield, bringing the current total to 102,661.
This major local milestone comes as the UK recorded 0 covid deaths on 1st June- the first time since the start of the pandemic- and that over 75{2d1905c0dbae80b91cdd598f1ff3eff49fef3a73b28652cce2cf5172b28ff3f0} of UK adults have received at least a single dose of vaccine.
Speaking about the news, Welwyn Hatfield MP and Transport Secretary Grant Shapps Said: “It’s a brilliant milestone for Welwyn Hatfield- local NHS staff and volunteers have been flat out over the last few months to get as many jabs in arms as possible, and this is testament to their hard work and determination.
“I remember coming to receive my first jab in February. I was met with a really slick operation- they were welcoming, efficient and were incredibly happy to be doing their bit for such a vital national effort.
“So I pay tribute to them, both in Welwyn Hatfield and across the country. Vaccination is our way out of the pandemic, and the people behind this brilliant milestone are doing amazing work for all of us. So, if you get the call to come and have your vaccination, there is one thing for you to do:
