Primary school pupils have shown off their budding minds to Welwyn Hatfield MP Grant Shapps

Year 4 students from Templewood Primary School in Welwyn Garden City wrote to Mr Shapps about their concerns about plastic pollution, as well as providing ideas for initiatives to reduce it.

Mr Shapps met with Year 4 students who asked him questions about his thoughts on reducing plastic pollution but also about his new role as Secretary of State for Defence.

He said:

“I was so impressed by the pupils at Templewood. They were absolutely brimming with ideas about how to deal with plastic pollution and about how we can better defend the realm!”

Templewood’s Year 4 teacher Morgan Buttrey thanked Mr Shapps for his visit:

“Mr Shapps’ visit to Templewood School was thoroughly enjoyed by the children in Year 4.”

“The children had written letters addressing plastic pollution, which resulted in the visit; they learned about the huge decrease in plastic pollution so far. Furthermore, they expressed a great deal of interest in Mr Shapps’ role as Secretary of State for Defence.”

“This was an amazing experience for the children, and we are so thankful they were able to be a part of this”.
