Over 1300 have participated in a survey created by Welwyn Hatfield MP Grant Shapps regarding the potential closure of B&Q in Welwyn Garden City.
The survey was created by Grant to see what Welwyn Garden City residents and B&Q shoppers thought about the potential closure of the hardware shop in favour of new houses.
Grant said:
“Being one of the few hardware stores in the town, removing B&Q could be bad news. But others argue that building new homes is more important. I wanted to know what people thought”
The survey was signed by 1368 people with 95% of those signing wanting B&Q to remain open.
Grant visited the B&Q in Welwyn Garden City to meet with Mark Jacobs, the Director of Property for B&Q and other staff members to present the survey results and lend his support.
“I know how important B&Q is to the local community and how much it means to the people who work at the site. As the local MP, I stand ready to assist in any way I can to help keep B&Q in Welwyn Garden City open”.
