Welwyn Hatfield MP Grant Shapps is to embark on a tour of every GP surgery in the local area over the next few months in next step of Make Healthcare Local. Grant unveiled Make Healthcare Local earlier this year as a campaign to reintroducing access to services at the New QEII Hospital which have slowly been stripped out of WGC by health bosses and relocated to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage
Grant intends to speak to GPs and surgery staff at every one in the constituency to gather their opinion on the state of local healthcare and to hear their suggestions of improvement.
After writing to each surgery requesting a meeting, Grant commented, “At a time when we have a growing and ageing population and health services moving out of the local area to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage, GP surgeries here are going to come under more pressure than ever. Therefore, I’m keen to meet up with every surgery in due course to gather GPs views on local healthcare and what can be done to improve it.”
