Welwyn Hatfield Member of Parliament Grant Shapps has slammed train bosses following the shambolic timetable changes last month.
The change to the timetable, which has seen fewer fast trains and services overall has also seen multiple cancellations and delays across the network but particularly badly impacted commuters from Welwyn Hatfield stations.
As part of his campaign to restore and improve the services, daily commuter Grant has hauled in the directors of Govia and the Chief Executive of Network Rail and laid it on the line. He’s also met with Transport for London to urge them to take over.
The MP has already received an assurance from the government that Govia will now lose the franchise in 2021 but Grant is urging the Transport Secretary to terminate is well ahead of schedule as a result of the current chaos.
Grant commented, “The service has been a complete and utter shambles. Frankly it’s been poor ever since Govia Great Northern took over the franchise but with this timetable change it’s completely fallen apart.
“Having access to an efficient rail service is vital so I’m absolutely committed to fighting these changes, getting compensation for travellers and booting Govia off this line.”
