Health risk rubbish cleared from Co-Op car park – thanks largely to MP Grant Shapps.

He stepped in after shoppers raised concerns about the car park near the Co-Op on Bishops Rise in Hatfield.

Welwyn Hatfield MP Grant Shapps said:

“As soon as I was made aware of the issue I contacted the Co-Op bosses asking them to step in. I was particularly concerned at the potential health risks, particularly during warmer weather.”

“They have now cleared the area”.

The Co-Op Public Affairs Manager, John Munro, said:

“We have, as a gesture of goodwill toward our neighbours and the wider local community, arranged for this rubbish to be disposed of.”

Mr Shapps praised Co-Op management for acting and thanked shoppers for bringing this issue to his attention.

“I am also urging the borough council to ensure this area is cleared on a more regular basis.”
