Grant Shapps, the MP for Welwyn Hatfield, visited Panasonic Heating and Cooling HQ in Welwyn Garden City to see the company’s new fully equipped training centre and the innovations they’ve made in heat pump technology.

Panasonic has been a key innovator in the heat pump sector being one of the first companies to introduce its heating and cooling products into Europe more than 60 years ago. The company now boasts a wide array of products which has led to it having some of the most efficient and widest ranges on the market. One of its most recent designs – the K Generation units – gained a ‘Best 100 Design Award 2022’ from the Good Design Awards.

Mr Shapps was shown a variety of products during his visit and told about the new incentive scheme that the company would be bringing into place. He commented:

“I was thrilled to learn about Panasonic’s new training and support scheme which launches this month. It encourages installers to train in low-carbon technologies and receive £500 upon completion of their training and their first installation of a low-carbon heat pump.”

Jose Alves, the UK Country Manager for Panasonic Heating and Cooling Solutions, thanked Mr Shapps for his visit:

“It’s always encouraging to see local politicians and government ministers taking an active interest in the issues that matter to their constituents, and the recent visit by our MP and Secretary of State is a great example of this. The fact that our MP has taken the time to learn about the training we provide, our local employment and investment initiatives, and our commitment to carbon neutrality through the use of heat pumps is a testament to his dedication to these causes”.

Mr Shapps thanks the team at Panasonic HQ for making the time to see him and for supporting Britain’s mission to decarbonise. He wishes them all the best for the future.
