Local MP Grant Shapps has visited Rapid Information Systems Ltd, a local business in Welwyn Garden City which has benefitted from support from the Hertfordshire Growth Hub and has recently moved to a larger premises.

Grant met with employees to discuss the challenges small and medium-sized enterprises face locally, as well as through our exit from the European Union. Businesses such as these are responsible for more than half of all employment in Welwyn Hatfield.

Rapid Information Systems is an IT company that has received support from the Growth Hub along with over 2,000 other Hertfordshire-based businesses. The Growth Hub, part of the Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership, provides free business support and advice with funding from European partners such as Exemplas.

Grant said: “I had a great visit to Rapid Information Systems, a local IT business in Welwyn Garden City which has benefitted from the business support and advice on offer from the Herts Local Enterprise Partnership through the Herts Growth Hub. We had an interesting discussion about the issues small businesses face, and what can be done to ensure businesses like Rapid Information Systems can continue to benefit from funding and support after we have left the European Union.”

Gareth Edwards of Rapid Information Systems Ltd said: “We were really pleased with our visit from Grant. He was incredibly positive and enthusiastic about our software, and went out of his way to understand what we do and link us up with other organisations in Welwyn Hatfield to promote local business.”
