Local MP Grant Shapps has cut the ribbon to officially open the newly built adult gym equipment at Gobions Open Space in Brookmans Park.
Grant was joined by Teresa Travell, Chairman of North Mymms Parish Council, along with parish councillors and local residents, who will now be able to take of advantage of the brand new equipment.
Funding for the equipment was made available through a Section 106 agreement between the local planning authority and the developer of a recent housing project in Brookmans Park. Section 106 agreements allow contributions to be sought from developers towards the cost of providing community infrastructure in the area affected by the development.
Grant said: “It was fantastic to officially open the new adult gym equipment, which will further enhance the fantastic facilities at Gobions. This will help local residents to lead active and healthy lives, as well as enjoy the wonderful park which the whole community should be proud of.”
Teresa Travell said: “The adult gym equipment that North Mymms Parish Council installed at Gobions Open Space was paid for using money from a Section 106 payment. This was in respect of monies given by the developer from a recent housing development in Brookmans Park. The Parish Council is very keen to promote health and wellbeing in the parish and hope that the new equipment will be well used by the community.”
