The MP for Welwyn Hatfield, Grant Shapps, paid a visit to local charity Resolve to welcome their new CEO as well as meet their team and service users.
Resolve is a local charity of which Mr Shapps is the patron. It delivers drug and alcohol support as well as advice and treatment services from its bespoke centre in Woodhall Community Centre in Welwyn Garden City.
Since it began 15 years ago it has been at the forefront of supporting a wide range of clients with Resolve supporting over 200 people last year alone – running 750 group therapy sessions and 1000 counselling and acupuncture sessions.
Mr Shapps met the charity’s new CEO, Laura Hyde to discuss how she has been finding the role since taking over in March. He also spent time talking to some of the charity’s clients about their experiences with Resolve, all of which commended the charity for the wonderful support they provide with one client saying, “I don’t know where my life would have been without Resolve”.
Laura thanked Mr Shapps for visiting and for taking the time to meet the Resolve team and some clients:
“It was great for some of our Welwyn Garden City team and service users to meet Grant. Grant has been a long-standing supporter of Resolve since it was set up by the founder and former Chief Executive Joe Heeney 15 years ago, with Grant’s wife even running a fundraising marathon for Resolve many years ago.”
She continued:
“I am so proud to be the new Chief Executive of Resolve. Resolve saves people’s lives and helps to support them on their difficult road to recovery”.
Mr Shapps thanked Laura and the Resolve team for inviting him to visit:
“It was wonderful to meet the Resolve team and Laura. I congratulate her on becoming the new CEO of Resolve. I can see how dedicated and passionate she is about her role, so I know she’ll do Resolve proud”.
He continued:
“Resolve provides vital support for those that need it the most. I wish everyone all the very best for the future”.
