Flooding at a busy road junction needs to be tackled “as a matter of urgency” says MP Grant Shapps.

The junction is at the corner of Lemsford Road and Wellfield Road in Hatfield, next to the fire station. Commuters have raised the issue with Mr Shapps over safety concerns,

Mr Shapps said: “The road gets badly flooded when it rains heavily. I have witnessed this for myself.”

“The county council is responsible for sorting such problems and I have urged officers to do so as soon as possible.”

Conservative borough and county councillor James Bond is also aware of the flooding and is backing Mr Shapps on getting it resolved.

The Welwyn Hatfield MP said, “It is essential this issue is tackled now before we get to the time of year where rain is more frequent.”

“I’ll continue to press the county council until it is sorted.”
