Health. Grant Shapps highlighted problems of a lack of local
accountability in decisions which impact on our hospital healthcare.

Grant's
initiates a debate in the House of Commons about the operation of the
Freedom of Information Act
Since
being elected as an Member of Parliament, Grant Shapps has taken a keen
interest in the operation of the Freedom of Information Act, but is now
concerned about the way that it is working with his own study showing
high rates of failure to answer enquiries either in time or accurately.
Now he's challenging the Government to justify their own proposals to

Threat to QE2, new
Hatfield Hospital and reasons for cancelled operations
Welwyn Hatfield's MP takes part in an opposition day debate about the
staffing and funding crisis within the NHS. Grant Shapps discusses soon
to be released research that he's carried out into the reason that 1,000
NHS operations are now cancelled each day and tackles the Secretary of
State for Health on why a super-hospital was promised at Hatfield before
the election, but now looks very unlikely to proceed.

MPs are seriously concerned about lack of funding to local Hospitals
Grant Shapps joined 6 other Hertfordshire MPs to debate the failure of
the government to properly fund Hertfordshire Hospitals. In particular
the QEII in WGC is now likely to all but close as services are slashed
in order to try and cut a project £69m deficit within the next 3 years.
Grant Shapps argues with the minister that Welwyn Hatfield lives are
about to be put at risk.

stages his own debate about the cost to the NHS from Missed Appointments
When constituent
John Mitchell missed an appointment at the QE2 Hospital he felt bad
enough to send in a £15 cheque, only to have it returned by the bankrupt
NHS Trust saying that they didn't want the money. Grant Shapps
went on to uncover the true cost of missed appointments to the NHS which
total a staggering £614m. Watch the debate in Parliament where Grant

to the House to say what's happening about innocent children who find
themselves stuck on the national DNA database. Geoff Hoon appears to
suggest that the Home Secretary is looking into it, but the Home Office
backtracked two hours later by issuing a Press Release denying it.
