Civic Awards winners honoured
« on: May 28, 2010, 07:41:30 PM »
Outgoing Mayor for Welwyn Hatfield, Councillor Kim Langley, presented four Civic Awards winners with their prizes at the Annual Council meeting on Monday 24 May 2010.
The winners were:

•Christine Novelli – in recognition of her outstanding work within the Welwyn Hatfield Community.
•Pauline Honour – in recognition of her outstanding work within the Welwyn Hatfield Community.
•Rachel McCullough and Oren Blindell – in recognition of their outstanding sporting achievements.
This is the fourth year that Serco (the council's partner for streetscene services) has sponsored the awards. These awards recognise and pay tribute to the people of the borough who have shown huge commitment, courage and dedication in overcoming personal difficulties or in helping to better the community. All the winners have been nominated by members of the public.

The winners received a trophy, certificate and a cheque for £250 with each award. In addition, their names, along with details of their achievements, have been entered into the Civic Awards role of honour book for posterity.

Councillor Kim Langley said "It has been a great honour to acknowledge the people who have contributed so much to the community; I give heartfelt thanks for your contribution to the borough. It is astounding to see the different range of achievements within Welwyn Hatfield. My sincerest thanks also go to the sponsors of the awards, Serco, whose support is invaluable."
