Agreed - it does sound like the only solution at the moment given the circumstances. Perhaps when the council finally do take over your roads they can use warden enforcement, assuming they'll even bother.

Once again, its a little more complicated than that

.... but why does it have to be more complicated? Is it a good thing or a bad thing that it is more complicated?

Roads, houses, cars, parking, students and local government are hardly new concepts.

Tell that to 7 different developers, a county council, a district council, a town council, 5 RSL's. several major employers, a land owner and then..... oh dear, several thousand residents.

Please find response from counceller Clare Berry:

Dear Rob

Apparently, Arlington is unlikely to hand over the estate for quite a long while (at least until the new hospital is built according to the last information I was given)as they want to maintain it themselves. The council would therefore not be in a position to plan in detail for issues that might arise several years in to the future.

When the handover is nearer the council could then be asked, perhaps through the residents' association, to start the consultation process with residents as to how they wish to tackle the parking problems.

However, certainly for the forseeable future, Arlington remain in control.

Regards

Clare Berry

So, with Arlington in control we don't get the council services we are paying for - and won't do until the hospital is built in about 2013.

A lot of people see a new hospital on our doorstep as a wonderful thing but when the hospital is complete and they start charging to use the new multistories we all know what's going to happen - so is it so wonderful? The hospital parking issue will make the student car parking issue pale in comparison! I think parking chaos and CPZs are definitely coming! Hope to be well out of it by 2013!

We've noticed that people working in the Business Park are parking their cars on Campion Road during the day - does anybody know why they would do that? Thought there was plety of parking for them.
