Why's this new board here?
« on: June 30, 2009, 01:19:32 PM »
If you're wondering why we've created a board called 'myNEWS', this might give some explanation:

http://www.stalbansreview.co.uk/search/4448810.Calling_all_budding_reporters_in_Welwyn_Hatfield/

Basically, we want to encourage people to make the news themselves and use all the technology available to do it. So Grant's launching a competition for local school children to make their own videos about local issues and events.

We're just finalising the details and materials to go out to schools at the moment, but we're hoping they'll start uploading their own videos in the new academic year (i.e. from September).

In the meantime, I see no reason why other budding 'citizen journalists' shouldn't post up their own creations*.  Just remember, normal forum rules apply to the videos you post here...

Best,

Benedict.

*Sorry, but the competition's only open to pupils at local schools, so you won't qualify for it unless you're in full time education at key stages 3 or 4 or in sixth form, but that's no reason to hold back from publishing some interesting news from your patch of Welwyn Hatfield.

Help! I have taken a short video, not particularly for this topic. However I need to rotate the clip by 90 degrees because of the way I held the camera. Is this possible or am I destined forever to walk around with an incline to the left?   :-[

Not sure that you'll find anyone who would know the answer to that here Anne. I would suggest one of the technical video websites or Forums that you'll find on the net if you do a search.  Good luck!

Anne there is usually a rotate button on the editing software but without knowing what software you use it's very difficult to help :(

However if you follow Grants advise you wont go far wrong, look up the software you use and hopefully there will be a search forum/site option type in there rotating the picture and fingers crossed your answers will be revealed. :)

I've got MS MovieMaker, the free one that comes along with other MS stuff... the one that you don't know you've got until someone asks you if you've got it!

I can access the video clip. I can find the rotate button. But I can't link the two of them together.     :-[
