Friday nights at Stanborough Park
« on: March 30, 2009, 04:45:26 PM »
Is anything being done about the collection of youths that are beginning to congregate on the hill at Stanborough park on Friday and some saturday nights.  The noise is intolerable and the mess they leave is disgusting.  I see them going through the entrance at the bottom of Handside lane with boxes of alcohol.  This was a continuous problem last year and they would often spill onto Lemsford Lane causing trouble and damage to property and cars. One lad was even stabbed last year and ended uo in my front garden.  The winter has bought some relief but niw as the days are slowly warming they are beginnning to gather again and i don't thinnk i can bear another summer of torture.

Hi, if a few residents can get together maybe you could report it to the Anti Social behaviour team at WHC Bridge Rd East, WGC & the police may also be involved if residents have logged calls with any crime numbers. There is plenty of things for youths to do in this area if they looked for it & there are some who join clubs, events etc & do voluntary work, its a shame the bad always aweigh the good!

I cycled by them one night last year, they were very friendly/sociable and I enjoyed a chat with them despite the obviously large age difference.  I'm sure we all did similar things in our youth -it's part of growing up.
With land being built on at an incredible rate, there aren't many places outside for them to congregate.  My friends & I used to hang out in Sherrard woods but as it's been seriously cut back, i wouldn't frequent the area off sixways if I was a youth now. Give 'em a break  - they aren't as noisy/rowdy all the time as you are trying to portray.

You need to tell the police about this problem. If no body tells them about it at the time how can they identify those reponsible? Otherwise all they find is the rubbish left behind. Although the chances of the police responding depends on what else they are dealing with if you don't tell them they definatley wont respond. Don't forget Stanborough Park is an open space designed for use (lawful use) of all residents including young people. If some younsters are being a pain they need sorting out so they don't spoil things for the rest

quite right! there needs to be a balance between residents being able to live in peace and kids to be, well kids.

I think they are all too often demonised although I can see the point that some children/teenagers do behave in a more... 'adult' manner of being anti social these days.

Are the car parks there still being 'enjoyed' by adults late at night?
It seems so, as when I cycle through there occasionally with my bike light on (£300 proper off-road light with similar output to a car headlight) suddenly several cars make a fast getaway from the carpark.  Whatever it is they're dogging, they get very jumpy ;D

Well the police HQ is directly opposite, I'd presume that if there were gangs of youths causing trouble the police might notice as they drive/walk past? If not just report it every time it happens and then I guess they'll get on to it. I've no doubt the police have one or two people in the canteen who could wander across and tell the kids to quieten down.

How about a report to Finesse/the council too? After all that new park cost £500k, shouldn't they have someone watching the area?
