Hello Paul
I guess that the many residents of the Handside ward who are affected by the A1M noise, may be reassured by your colleague's membership of a A1M working party. Unfortunately this working party seems to hide its light under a bushel as it does not appear to have a web-site or show up on the Council's web-site and a search on Google does not reveal anything.
Traditionally 'working parties' can be anything from a talking shop to an effective lobby or action team. It does not take a rocket scientist to guess at which end of the spectrum your colleague's working party lies.
Another point to reflect on, is that in spite of the interest in matters to do with the A1M which you associate with your colleague, his web-site which includes around nine areas or items of concern to him, does not mention the A1M noise problems. So one could be forgiven for thinking that it does not rate that high in his priorities in spite of his working party membership.
At least with Grant Shapps MP, his A1M web-site [www.Quieter-A1M.com] is very positive and is a record of achievement
If I can chip in here, with a response to "mickeyl" the Liberal Democrats do not have a permanent website on the A1 M - but we often have items on our main website, and have done since the time we first began the campaign.
You mention Tony Skottowe's website and the fact that Tony does not have an item on this subject on his website.
Please bear in mind that we have a Handside representative on the county council, and since this is a county council issue rather than a Borough one, he is a more appropriate spokesman on the subject. Without Malcolm, this campaign would never have existed at all. It would therefore not be appropriate for Tony to be the spokesperson on that issue, and there is no reason for him to have an item on his website which is not there for political campaigning, but for issues affecting his work as a borough councillor.
Grant does do a good job of keeping up the website, and we all appreciate that. He does a brilliant job, and is MP for all of us, not just the Conservatives. But bear in mind that it is a multi-party campaign, which, like almost all of the really good campaigns in the area, were started by the Liberal Democrats and then taken up by Grant. We're glad that Grant has given them his backing and that he is happy to work in a cross party way, and we hope that he will take the time to publicly thank the LibDems for all the great work they have done on many cross-party issues.
