MP Shapps meets first residents at Taylor Wimpey’s new Mirage Development
On Friday evening, Grant Shapps, MP for Welwyn Hatfield and Minister of State for Housing, visited Mirage – the Taylor
Wimpey development in Welwyn Garden City – for a special party to welcome residents to their new homes.
Mirage is a high quality development of one and two-bedroom apartments as well as three and four-bedroom homes, on sale from £299,950.
Some of the residents have taken advantage of the Government’s NewBuy Scheme which lets credit-worthy purchasers buy a new build home with a 95% Loan to Value mortgage. The social event, at which Italian drinks and snacks were served in the communal garden, was held to allow the residents to break the ice with their new neighbours and to meet their local MP. According to Christine Shea, Regional Sales Manager for Taylor Wimpey, “it was a really good way of bringing homeowners into touch for the first time and helping create a sociable place where they are happy to live.”
Afterwards, Grant commented, “I was delighted to visit the Mirage development and to have a drink with some of the residents
who have just taken delivery of the keys to their new homes. It gave me the opportunity to find out what is important to homebuyers in my own constituency and to learn how the industry is meeting their needs for places to live. The Mirage development is a great example of the NewBuy Scheme in action. It has given some of the residents the chance to buy their first home and I believe they’ve made an excellent decision in choosing to buy it in Welwyn Garden City!”
