The New Barnfield (Action Fund) Trust met Friday to bring together the various threads of the campaign against the plans for an incinerator in South Hatfield. Following the meeting chaired by Welwyn Hatfield’s MP Grant Shapps the Trust, which has so far raised £50,000 to fight the Veolia incinerator, put out an appeal for members of the public to urgently respond to the Planning Application Consultation.
The deadline for those wishing to respond to the consultation is 31st Jan and details, including the grounds upon which a planning decision will be made, can be found at www.SaveNewBarnfield.com
The New Barnfield (Action Fund) Trust brings together residents groups including Hatfield Against Incineration and funders like the North Mymms Green Belt Society, Hatfield Town Council and Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.
Speaking at the meeting MP Shapps said, “Right now there are two priorities. We appeal to everyone in Welwyn Hatfield to ensure that they have completed their own personalised response to the Planning Consultation by the deadline of 31st January. Second, we still need more funds to fight the incinerator proposal and we’re up against a company with deep pockets. I therefore appeal to Welwyn Hatfield residents to help financially if they feel able to do so.”
Cheques should be made payable to the New Barnfield (Action Fund) Trust.
